About Us:

We have been operating as Cib's Gelbvieh since 2005, but our roots go much deeper. When Tina was born, her Dad, Tony Hayek was raising Gelbvieh Cattle. Tina has been very active in the Gelbvieh breed, participating in shows at the county, state, and national level. In 1998 Tina started dating Matt. Matt soon became very passionate about the Gelbvieh breed. In 2002, Tina's dad passed away in a tractor roll over accident. Matt and Tina helped manage Hayek Gelbvieh for the next 3 years. In 2004, Matt proposed to Tina during the Gelbvieh show at the Iowa State Fair. They were married in 2005 and soon after they purchased the Hayek Gelbvieh herd. In 2008 they were able to move back onto the Hayek family farm and this is where they reside today. Matt has served as president of the Gelbvieh Breeders of Iowa for 3 years. They are excited to share their passion for cattle with their four children Brayton, Shawna, Dustin and Drayson.
We run around 95 purebred and Balancer females and have an annual production sale the first Saturday in March. Artificial insemination and embryo transfer are used to produce high quality genetics that meet the customers needs. In order to make it in the Cib's Gelbvieh herd, females must be moderate, easy fleshing cows with good udder quality. And most importantly they must raise a quality calf year in and year out. Cib's Gelbvieh is proud to be in the top 5 breeders of Dam's of Merit and Dam's of Distinction in the state of Iowa.
